InZone is a higher education project of the University of Geneva operating in fragile contexts such as Kenya’s Kakuma and Dadaab’s refugee camps. A container with solar panels, one host computer and 10 work stations have given refugees a new hope in their professional future.
However InZone’s learning labs are facing urgent challenges: climate conditions (dust, wind and heat), needs in renewable energy, mobile internet connection, limited space to host students, lack of mobility of the container …
How can we imagine solutions to improve the learning labs and replicate the model to other fragile contexts? The GCC invited the academic, industrial and humanitarian actors to explore innovative forms of interdisciplinary collaborations during a rapid prototyping exercice.
Geneva is the world’s humanitarian capital. Geneva is also a unique pool of competencies, knowledge and technologies which could benefit humanitarian actors facing numerous challenges in their field operations. The event aims at facilitating the interaction and dialogue between the University of Geneva, the HES-SO, local companies and International Organisations. And you can be part of this!
